Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is highly recommended for Vietnam, especially if your health insurance does not cover you abroad or will only reimburse you after treatment (since some providers may demand proof of payment before starting treatment). While lost luggage and trip cancellation coverage might be nice extras, some level of medical coverage is an absolute necessity, especially since international health treatment in Vietnam or evacuation outside of Vietnam can be very expensive.

Please check with your health insurance provider about the level of coverage abroad, as well as their coverage of any activities that you might undertake that could be excluded as “risky” behaviors (accidents while on motorbikes, rock climbing, or other outdoor adventures).
